Bieten Met Appelen (Beets With Apples)

Beets are extensively cultivated in Holland, and the sugar industry is one of the most important of country.
Peel and slice 2 large cooked beets or 4 small ones, and put them in a saucepan with 5 tablespoons of butter, 1 shredded onion, 4 finely chopped sour apples, and season with salt and a plentiful amount of nutmeg. Simmer till reduced to a pulp.
