Korint Sas (Currant Sauce)

Ingredients :

  • 3 tablespoons of currants
  • 3 cups of water
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 2 tablespoons of flour
  • 1/2 tablespoon of golden syrup
  • 1 tablespoon of vinegar
  • a little sugar
  • salt

Method :
  1. Clean and rinse the currants in warm water and boil till tender.
  2. When soft, drain, but keep the water in which they were boiled.
  3. Melt the butter, and stir in the flour but without browning.
  4. Add gradually the water in which the currants were boiled.
  5. Stir in the golden syrup, flavor with the vinegar, sugar, and salt, and simmer for about 10 to 15 minutes.
